Naugatuck Valley Health District invites you to virtually attend Sextortion: Real-World Dynamics and Suicide Risk Considerations on August 11, 2026 at 7:00PM. The program will be presented by Alison Sullivan, retired police detective and founder of ProtectUs.

Sextortion is a rapidly escalating form of exploitation impacting youth across the United States. While commonly associated with image-sharing or online coercion, sextortion is increasingly linked to acute psychological distress, perceived entrapment, and suicide risk among teens.

This presentation focused on understanding sextortion not only as a digital safety issue, but also as a mental health and crisis-intervention concern requiring early recognition, supportive response, and proactive education by schools, families, clinicians, and community organizations.
