The Connecticut Health Care Coalition (CT HCC) is currently conducting elections for its Chair and Co-Chair positions. To help voting members decide who to vote for, the nominees have provided short bios outlining their expertise, experience, and interest in the coalition. Some nominees have been nominated for both positions. If this is the case, you will find their bios under the headings for both positions.

Chair Nominees
John Pelazza, BS, EMT-P, CHS-IV
John began his career in emergency services in 1975 and became an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in 1978 and was certified as a Paramedic in 1985. In 1987, he joined the Stamford EMS and from 1993 - 2002, John was employed by American Medical Response (AMR) as a Paramedic Supervisor. From 2002-2010, John became the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator as well as the Emergency Medical Services Manager for Bridgeport Hospital.
Since then, he has been involved in the development of emergency preparedness programs for hospitals, governmental agencies, municipalities and emergency service providers. He has more than 45 years of experience in the Emergency Medical Services field, including over thirty years in progressive management positions and thirty-three years as an adjunct faculty member for state and regional EMS education programs.
John is instrumental in ensuring that the emergency management planning and preparedness activities at Greenwich Hospitals, all of Yale New Haven Health System and the Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) Regions in southern Connecticut result in optimal emergency management response capacity and capability.
Corey Van Oostendorp
Corey van Oostendorp is currently the Safety & Emergency Management Coordinator for Norwalk Hospital, part of Nuvance Health, proudly joining Northwell Health. Corey holds a Master of Science degree in Emergency Management, a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology & Biotechnology, and numerous emergency services certifications including Emergency Medical Technician, Firefighter, and Hazardous Materials Operations. He has over 15 years of experience as a first responder, has worked at every level of government and more recently gained experience in the private sector. Corey also serves as a System Administrator for his local fire department where one of his primary duties is conducting quality control reviews for all fire incident reports. In his previous role Corey assisted with rebuilding the City of Danbury’s Emergency Management program including obtaining Nation Weather Service StormReady recognition, a redesign of the emergency operations center, and managing the City’s personal protective equipment stockpile during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Paul J. Wentworth Paramedic, EMS-I.
Mr. Wentworth received his paramedic education through the University of Connecticut Medical Center, Farmington, Connecticut, and has practiced as a licensed paramedic since 1991. Paul is the Emergency Management Director, Emergency Medical Services Coordinator at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs, CT. In his position Paul is responsible to oversee the prehospital care practices being performed by a multitude of services. In addition, Paul is responsible for the Emergency Management planning and activities for the hospital. Paul is the American Heart Association, Community Training Center Coordinator. Paul practices as a Paramedic in the Middlesex Hospital Paramedic System. Paul lives in the small rural town of Union Connecticut with his wife. He is the Chief of The Union Volunteer Fire Dept, and the Deputy Emergency Management Director for the Town of Union, CT.
Co-Chair Nominees
Pat Srenaski, BSN, RN, NHDP-BC
Pat Srenaski, BSN, RN, NHDP-BC, is currently a Program Manager Public Safety and Emergency Management at Hartford HealthCare. Her work focuses on emergency preparedness support for all Pre/Post-Acute entities at Hartford HealthCare which includes regulatory compliance, HVA and plan updates, incident command system training and exercise development and delivery.
Pat has been a registered nurse for over 40 years with experience in home care, long term care, nursing leadership, infection prevention and occupational health and safety. She has been involved in emergency management since 2017 and led the project team that developed the Hartford HealthCare at Home Emergency Preparedness Program.
Pat holds certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a National Healthcare Disaster Professional. She is Chair of the Capital Region 3 ESF 8 and a member of the Connecticut Health Care Coalition Executive Committee.
Kevin Shuck
Kevin Shuck is an Emergency Management Specialist at Yale New Haven Hospital with over ten years of experience in EMS, emergency management, and public safety communications. Kevin leads preparedness efforts across several hospital campuses, chairs the hospital's Emergency Preparedness Committee, and has coordinated multi-agency training and exercises. He holds a master’s degree in health emergency management, and his background includes leadership roles in EMS operations and regional emergency dispatch including CMED. He is passionate about building strong partnerships, improving systems, and enhancing our collective ability to respond to emergencies effectively.
