2019-nCoV Outbreak: Open Media Report 1600hrs 6Feb2020

The past 24 hours has had the highest number of new confirmed cases reported. There is a lot of public interest in the evacuees that are being housed at military bases, but there does not appear to be a negative sentiment attached to it. CDC sent out test kits to trusted US and international labs to make the testing process more efficient.

ASPR Information Management, Operational Data & Analytics identified the following open media information, including traditional news media and social media, regarding the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak, as potentially important information for hospitals and other healthcare providers.

a. The ECRI Institute launched a resource center on its website to help healthcare providers prepare for the threat of nCoV

b. Vanderbilt University Medical Center set up alerts in their electronic health record to ask about travel to China in patients with fever and respiratory symptoms.

c. Duke University Hospital is enacting a plan they created after the H1N1 outbreak of 2009.

d. Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital has set up 40 airborne isolation rooms for treatment of anyone diagnosed with nCoV.

e. Flight from Korea to Las Vegas has been diverted to LAX due to several passengers identified as having been to coronavirus contamination zone.

f. A 10 month old quarantined at March Air Reserve Base in California was transferred to Riverside University Health System-Medical Center for testing and observation
