The Coalition In Action: AVADE Training
"The most valuable aspect... has been interactive engagement for how to stay safer and confident within encounters"
"I have new techniques for my every day job."
"[I learned] it is possible to articulate multiple strategies for de-escalation when making a self defense claim."
"Absolutely needed for EMS."
At the end of the last fiscal year, the Connecticut Health Care Coalition provided funding for members, partners, and guests to attend AVADE De-Escalation training. 53 coalition members and guests learned how to de-escalate situations before they become workplace violence incidents. The courses were well-received and were rated a 9.8 out of 10 by participants. 100% of all students reported that they were more capable of responding to an incident after receiving the training, and that they would recommend this course to others.
The Coalition also offered a train-the-trainer course where 18 of our partners became certified AVADE De-Escalation Instructors. We hope that by bringing this knowledge back to their organizations, Connecticut healthcare and emergency response professionals can stay safer in tense situations in the future.
Thank you to all our attendees for your participation, and a special thanks to Cosmo Rowell, our AVADE instructor, for your instruction!

Potential Strike May Impact the U.S. Medical Supply Chain
The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) represents longshoremen along the East Coast and Gulf of Mexico. Current labor negotiations between the ILA and the U.S. Maritime Alliance Ltd. (USMX) have raised concerns about a possible strike. ASPR has released a report examining the potential impact of such a strike on the medical supply chain, emphasizing the critical ports, pharmaceutical products, and medical devices at risk.
Read the whole report to learn more about potential impacts on your organization.
Get the Facts about MPOX
Are you up to date on the CDC’s current recommendations for the clinical and public health management of clade I monkeypox virus in the United States? Although no cases of clade I mpox have been reported in the United States, there is the potential for clade I mpox to result in more severe clinical disease and higher mortality, which necessitates domestic preparedness efforts.
