OUR MISSION

The mission of the Connecticut Health Care Coalition (CT HCC) is to promote collaboration, education, and joint exercises during the planning and preparedness phases of emergency management. During real-world operations, the mission of the CT HCC is to help identify resources at the state and sub-state levels, and to collect, analyze, validate, and disseminate essential elements of information (EEIs) to partner agencies.


Coalition Updates

Apply for funding to attend the Vermont Healthcare Coalition, EMS and Preparedness Conference

The Connecticut Health Care Coalition has funding available to sponsor registration,  travel, meals and mileage for up to seven active Coalition members to attend the upcoming 2024 Vermont Healthcare Coalition, EMS, & Preparedness Conference. This conference is planned for June 14 - 16, 2024 at Jay Peak Resort in Vermont.

The Vermont Healthcare Coalition, EMS, & Preparedness Conference is one of the largest gatherings of public health preparedness professionals, emergency medical providers, squads, fire departments and healthcare personnel in New England.  The goal of the conference is to offer a wide variety of public health, healthcare and EMS products, the latest EMS equipment, and vehicle displays that are of interest to these groups.

CT HCC Decontamination Program and Equipment Assessment of Hospitals

The Connecticut Health Care Coalition is making Hospital Decontamination Assessments available for member hospitals. This assessment will include the following:

  • A site visit at your hospital to meet with your hospital emergency preparedness coordinator or designee to review decontamination equipment, setup, PPE, records, etc.
  • On-site technical assistance with recommendations and best practices related to hospital decontamination setup, team recruitment, program maintenance, equipment storage and purchase, etc.
  • A report of gaps and recommendations to address found gaps will be provided no later than 7 days after your site visit.

Please fill out this form by May 3, 2024 if your hospital is interested in participating in the Decontamination Program and Equipment Assessment of Hospitals.


Virtual Continuity of Operations Workshop

Join us for a virtual Continuity of Operations (COOP) workshop sponsored by the Connecticut Health Care Coalition. You will learn about the elements of a COOP, the benefits of COOP planning, how to conduct a Hybrid Business Impact Analysis, and other helpful tips and tricks!

This workshop will take place on June 26, 2024 from 10am-2pm ET. CT HCC members who represent a healthcare facility and those working in an emergency preparedness role will be prioritized as registrants.

Join a Workgroup!

The CT HCC completes deliverables through the collaborative effort of its membership. This is achieved most often via work groups made up of multiple members, guests, and CT HCC staff.

Are you interested in joining a workgroup? If so, please sign up for one using the link below or the QR code to the right. There is currently one workgroup that would benefit from new members:

Plans Workgroup - The CT HCC has various plans and annexes that must be created and updated this year. Members and guests are welcome to participate in this workgroup. This group will meet approximately once a month until June 2024. Since plans are hospital-focused, more hospital representatives would provide a benefit to the planning process.

Region 1 and 4 are both pleased to invite you to attend their upcoming full day interactive workshop, Social Media in Crisis. Throughout the day, you will discover core principles of crisis and emergency communications, gain an understanding of the different social media platforms, create effective social messaging, understand the differences between misinformation and disinformation, and how to respond to them. Interactive tabletop-style activities will be focused on response to public
health events.

Participants will receive instructions before the workshop on how to best prepare for the interactive portions of the workshop.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health is offering a delivery of ICS 300: Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents. MGT 403: Underserved Populations Preparedness Planning for Rural Responders & Volunteers

MGT 403 is an 8-hour, DHS/FEMA-certified, tuition-free, management-level course. This course helps ensure the safety of underserved populations during a crisis event by increasing knowledge among community emergency planners in the area of preparedness. It encourages outreach to the whole community so that everyone considers what these individuals may require in terms of personalized care, transportation, shelter, and medical assistance before the crisis occurs. This course focuses on the preparedness phase of emergency management
